This week some people are a bit excited about a thing called Firefox 3. It is going to be a really bit challenger to the dominance of IE7 (do you feel dominated?), will be very secure (heard that one before) and has had absolutely loads of downloads already. The question is... do we care?
Now as a web developer I appreciate that Firefox applies lots of the rules of web making more stringently than IE and therefore will represent my lovely work much better (except I really like the way IE applies cleartype to my text). I get that it's faster, and that they are trying to have great ideas about improving the web browsing experience (like thinking of tabbed browsing before anyone else and other important stuff) But, when I use the web I'm interested in CONTENT and stuff, rather than the window I'm looking through it at.
A glance at the stats for this site shows me that last week 70% of visitors were using IE, and 15% Firefox. So, is this about ignorance or apathy? Let's see what the poll throws up!
